If you have a new home or are looking to do some painting choosing a colour scheme is a fun part of the project, and can drastically change the feeling of a space. We have some ideas to help you through the process of choosing the right colours to make you feel right at home!
Step 1: Map it out!
Pick a bunch of colours that you like and get some samples. Paint several bristol boards, let them dry and hold them up to the walls you are looking to change. This will give you an idea of what the space would look like if it was all that colour.
Step 2: Stay safe with neutrals
Especially when painting hallways or open concept spaces, you’ll want one colour that will flow into the full space. Add punch with decor pieces and not paint!
Step 3: Assess the amount of natural light
Be aware of the amount of natural light that comes into the room(s). The less light the lighter, and brighter you will want the paint, it will make the space feel larger. Dark colours can make a space feel smaller.
Step 4: Keep it clean and simple
Less is always more, the less colour you use the more focus will be on you specialty decor and furniture pieces.
Equipped with the advice you need, it’s now time to begin making some decisions. When the time finally comes to paint – it’s time to call in some favours and get some help from your friends and family, so you can spend more time enjoying your home and less painting it!
